What you need to get it
4 requirements, and what counts as evidence for each.

Pest Control Qualifications.
All technicians must hold RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management (or equivalent recognised qualification). Foundation level minimum; some clients require Level 3. Evidence: RSPH or equivalent qualification certificates for all technicians.

Public Liability Insurance.
Minimum £5m public liability insurance covering pest control operations. Evidence: Insurance certificate.

COSHH Assessments.
COSHH assessments for all pesticides and biocides used. Evidence: COSHH assessment records for all products used.

BPCA Application.
Complete the BPCA application including all technician details and qualifications. Evidence: Completed BPCA application form.
What you have to keep doing
Getting it is the easy part. Keeping it means:

Annual Renewal.
Renew annually and keep technician qualifications current.

CPD Requirements.
Technicians must complete annual CPD to maintain BPCA membership.

Treatment Records.
Maintain complete records of all treatments including pesticides used, dosages, and outcomes.
Is it worth it?
At £450, the question isn’t the fee — it’s whether it wins you work. For pest control technicians it usually does, because it’s the first thing a cautious customer or a commercial buyer checks. Most trades hold accreditations and then hide the logos in the footer. If you’ve paid for it, it belongs where customers actually look.
